family SESSION LOCATIONS
hello! I am so stoked for your family photos! I am always exploring new trails in colorado and leaving pins on Google maps on all of the gems that I find. I have put together a list of all of my favorite places to make it easy for you to look through and decide where you want to go.
I broke down some of my favorite locations in a few different categories: locations in denver, golden and boulder, and places I have not yet done photos at that I’ve been dying to try out! If your fam is up for a bit of a hike, please please let me know and I can send you even more ideas!
locations IN DENVER
City Park
city park is denver’s largest park and it home to Denver Zoo and the museum of nature and science. it has beautiful views of the denver skyline, there’s a lake in the center and plenty of tree coverage surrounding the park. it truly offers something for everyone!
Tennyson Street
tennyson street is the perfect spot to snag industrial, city photos and grab some ice cream from high point creamery to end the session.

Red Rocks
the trail system surrounding red rocks amphitheater is home to tons of amazing rock formations that make for a killer backdrop. located close to Morrison, co, this is for sure a go to!
Mt. Falcon Park - East Trailhead
not a ton of people know about this gem making it one of our favorite spots to take family photos! sunset here is gorgeous and the view of red rocks amphitheater is breathtaking.
South Valley Park
located near Ken Carl, south west of Denver. this is one of our favorite places to go for a trail run. there are plenty of trails that run through the park and all of them have gorgeous views of red rock formations. it’s in sort of a valley, so sunset here is quick but beautiful!
Hildebrand Ranch
Hildebrand ranch is home to a whole system of trails that wind around the foothills. it’s located south west of denver making it super easy to get to year round.
Dawson Butte Ranch
dawson butte ranch is an open space just south of Castle Rock, CO. complete with open fields great for catching the sunset and tree groves with plenty of aspens perfect for a fall family photos.
LOCATIONS NEAR GOLDEn
Downtown Golden
Clear creek trail in downtown golden is the perfect place for easy access family photos. the shade along the trail makes this a great spot to take photos even in the middle of the day.
Lookout Mountain
a little secret spot I know off of lookout mountain road with spectacular views of the foothills and clear creek canyon that is only minutes outside of golden, co. This spot involves no hiking, but you need to keep a close eye on the kiddos because of the drop offs and cactus!
Matthews/Winters Park
located just outside of Golden, this is the perfect locations to watch the sunset behind the foothills. because it is located in Jefferson county, this location does require a photography permit.
green mountain
LOCATIONS NEAR BOULDER
Chautauqua Park
perhaps the most iconic view boulder has to offer of the flatirons. this park is often busy, so we prefer to shoot here at sunrise when possible.
Lost Gulch Lookout
located 15 minutes outside of boulder, this location has easy access with amazing views of the foothills. it’s a favorite for all photographers in the Denver area, making this spot often crowded with other sessions. that being said, it’s still an amazing choice!
South Mesa Trailhead
Located just outside of Eldorado Springs near Boulder, South Mesa trail offers sweeping views of the mountains just south of boulder. it is best to do photos at this location at sunset.
